Early Life and Education

Wesley Kanne Clark, born Wesley J Kanne on December 23, 1944, is a retired United States Army officer. He graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1966 at West Point and was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford University.

Military Career

Clark served in the US Army for over 30 years, including during the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. He held various positions of command, including the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe (SACEUR), from 1997 to 2000.

Political Career

After retiring from the military, Clark entered politics. In 2004, he ran as a Democratic presidential candidate but withdrew before the primaries. He has also served as a political commentator and author.

Later Work

Clark is currently a senior fellow at the UCLA Burkle Center for International Relations. He has written several books on military and international affairs, including "Waging Modern War: Bosnia, Kosovo, and the Future of Combat." He frequently speaks on issues of global security and cyberwarfare.
