Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has expressed her condolences on the passing of Waffle House CEO Joe Rogers Jr., who died at the age of 72.
In a statement, Bottoms called Rogers a "true visionary" and a "pioneer" in the restaurant industry.
Rogers joined Waffle House in 1971 and became CEO in 1995. Under his leadership, the company grew from 420 restaurants to more than 2,100 locations across the United States.
Rogers was also known for his philanthropy and his commitment to giving back to the community. He established the Waffle House Foundation in 1989, which has donated millions of dollars to charities and educational institutions.
Rogers passed away on June 7, 2023, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, and three children.
