A fatal collision occurred on Highway 401 near Kingston, Ontario, leaving one person dead and 28 others injured. The incident, which involved multiple tractor trailers, has prompted the closure of the westbound lanes of the highway.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the collision occurred at approximately 3:45 am involving a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle. The tractor trailer then collided with other vehicles on the highway, causing a major pileup.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the injured individuals to nearby hospitals. The OPP is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 have since reopened, while the westbound lanes remain closed for cleanup and investigation. Motorists are advised to avoid the area or seek alternate routes.
